PCL was contracted to upgrade the sewer system and replace the existing pump station in the Bridgeview neighborhood of Surrey, BC. The pump station controls building was designed and built to look like a single-family home, enabling it to blend in within the surrounding residential community.

In a neighborhood influenced by tidal movements and an already-high water table, a large cofferdam built of temporary and permanent sheet piling was required to construct a three-meter-diameter by seven-meter-deep underground fibre-reinforced polymer wet well. This well is located immediately adjacent to the controls building.

From the pump station, a 4.7-kilometer (2.9-mi.) network of sewer mains was installed into the 60-year-old community of Bridgeview. Three deep connections to the pump station were constructed by directional drilling, while the remaining mains were installed by conventional trenching. The system has more than 200 service connections tying the neighborhood into the new system.
