Manly, New South Wales, Australia (July 27, 2022) – PCL Pacific Rim is proud to announce the substantial completion of the Gunnedah solar farm in New South Wales for our client, Canadian Solar. Achievement of this major milestone for PCL’s first solar project in Australia was made possible by the collaborative team efforts by our dedicated PCL team, client, authorities, engineering specialists, trade partners and vendors.

Project Highlights

·         This was PCL’s first solar work in Australia, which consisted of the design, procurement and construction of a 153-megawatt solar electricity generating station. 

·         The solar panels cover 304 hectares, the large-scale solar photovoltaic system uses 353,528 bifacial Canadian Solar-made panels on a single-axis tracking system. 

·         The panels continuously generate energy as they follow the sun’s movement, east to west, throughout the day.

·         The Gunnedah Solar Farm will produce enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 48,000 households and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 290,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year — the equivalent of removing approximately 125,000 cars from the road.
