As part of California State University – Fullerton’s “Library of the Future” (LOFT) initiative, which aimed to renovate facilities and deliver the best use of space, the primary objective of the 20,000-square-foot Pollak Library project was to enhance the learning experience for students.

This vision was realized through the creation of additional individual and group study spaces, modern office areas, conference spaces, inviting break rooms, and upgraded restrooms. The updated first floor now includes several student resource centers as well as the circulation desk, TitanCard service desk and the Patrons Book Sale Center.

The transformed space not only meets the evolving needs of students but also sets new standards for educational environments. 

During the preconstruction phase, PCL, along with its Design Partners, presented 30 cost-saving concepts to the LOFT Committee and end users. These concepts were thoughtfully explained, highlighting their purpose and rationale. By engaging committee members and users, a shared understanding was cultivated, demonstrating that the project's high expectations were not being compromised. This collective effort resulted in savings of over $480,000 in construction costs while maintaining the project's integrity.

The PCL and AC Martin design-build team met and exceeded the Owners’ standards, bringing a collaborative approach and providing solutions to various challenges. The project created a new and improved library of the future, enhancing the learning environment for all students at CSUF.
