As one of the first open-managed projects in the industry, the Cogema McClean Lake Uranium Mine project was unique and new for both PCL and the client. The mine site is serviced by a 950-kilometer road from Saskatoon, and its remote location provided PCL the opportunity to exercise exceptional planning and transportation skills to ensure labor and materials were always available onsite. Construction of the main mill wrapped after two years and 1.35 million labor hours.
This joint venture with the Prince Albert Development Council provided a labor-relations strategy while at the same time involving Indigenous communities.
