Edmonton, Alberta (March 24, 2023) – PCL Construction is pleased to announce that it’s President and CEO, Dave Filipchuk has been presented the Canadian Business Leader Award from the University of Alberta. Filipchuk is the eighth president and CEO of PCL Construction, the company that was founded in 1906 and has had its headquarters in Edmonton since 1932.

“This is a tremendous honour, and very humbling given the many excellent leaders in our business community. It feels even more special for me to receive this award as an alumnus of the University of Alberta,” says Filipchuk. “I would like to thank the U of A Business Advisory Council and of course the many employees both past and current that make up our strong PCL team who have all made our company successful and who make my job a lot easier. We are all living our purpose, Building a Better Future, Together.”

Graduating from the University of Alberta in 1984, Filipchuk joined PCL that same year, working in both Canada and the U.S. on PCL projects before climbing the ranks to his current role leading PCL since 2016. He is now into year thirty-nine with the international construction company.

The award was presented to Filipchuk at the annual CBLA dinner — a University of Alberta signature event, attended by hundreds of members of the Alberta business community, on March 23, 2023, in Edmonton.

Each year since 1982, the Alberta School of Business and its Business Advisory Council have presented the Canadian Business Leader Award to a Canadian of distinction. CBLA recipients have demonstrated leadership, business acumen and success, an entrepreneurial spirit, integrity and a commitment to the community. The selection committee is made up of members of the Business Advisory Council, as well as faculty and alumni.
