Edmonton, Alberta (October 21, 2024) – At PCL we believe in building up and supporting the communities where we live, work and play. That’s why we recently partnered with two Edmonton schools for a “Name the Crane” contest for our two tower cranes on the Lewis Farms Facility and Park Project site. To add to the excitement, these two particular crane models have never been used in Western Canada before!

Students at Bishop David Motiuk Catholic Elementary/Junior High School and Winterburn School were provided with colouring pages where they could show their creativity to design and name their dream PCL crane. We had hundreds of talented young artists take part in the contest and our panel of experts on the project team voted on their top two entries. 

The top two crane names chosen were “Big Old Lifty” named by Ellie, a third grader at Bishop David Motiuk, and “Lemon Squeezer” named by Evie, a fourth grader from Winterburn. Both winners received tower crane models, which are exact replicas of the cranes on-site, donated by Liebherr Tower Cranes, and gift cards to the LEGO Store. The winning names will now be printed at the bottom of each tower crane for the duration of the cranes’ use on the project.

The Lewis Farms Facility and Park Project will be a west-end community hub that serves the recreational, sport, leisure and outdoor park space needs of 75,000 area residents.
