Edmonton, Alberta (October 15, 2024) – PCL Construction is proud to announce the outstanding success of our inaugural charity golf tournament, Tee Off Against Hunger, in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank.  PCL and our partners are deeply committed to supporting and uplifting our community, especially during times of need. Through the incredible generosity of these partners and participants, the event raised an amazing $176,000, all of which will go directly towards helping those in our community who rely on this vital service.

“We know the essential work Edmonton’s Food Bank does for our community, especially during these challenging times,” said Jason Portas, PCL Edmonton’s Vice President and District Manager. “Instead of a traditional food drive, we aimed to create an event that could raise substantial funds, allowing the food bank to allocate resources where they are most needed. We are fortunate to have strong industry partners, and we knew we could count on their support for this cause. Combining it with a day of golf and fun made it winning combination.” 

The tournament, held at The Quarry Edmonton, was a resounding success featuring over 70 sponsors, 216 golfers, and 18 holes of golf. The overwhelming support from our trade, supplier, client, and consultant partners was instrumental in making this event possible.

In recent years, Edmonton’s Food Bank has faced unprecedented demand, with over 40,000 households relying on its support each month. Given this increased need, the timing of the PCL tournament couldn't have been better.

“We are over the moon with this $176,000 donation from PCL Construction's first annual golf tournament!" said Marjorie Bencz, Executive Director. "Talk about a hole-in-one for our community! This generous contribution is a game-changer that will help us serve our community and provide vital support to those in need.”

With such an overwhelming response, we are already beginning to plan for next year’s tournament and are proud to support such a worthwhile organization while also fostering connections within our industry.
