North Vancouver Library and Civic Plaza
An Open Book on Sustainability
The North Vancouver City Library is a showcase of sustainability. Solar water heating panels provide 20% of energy needs for the radiant slab heating/cooling ceiling system which efficiently maintains internal temperature. The lighting system is also equipped with daylight dimming controls for environmental benefits.
Self-Performing Excellence
The library spans 36,000 square feet over three floors with a two-level, below-grade parking and a 28,000-square-foot outdoor plaza. To ensure quality and maintain budget, we self-performed the concrete work for the cast-in-place structure. In total, we placed 4,500 cubic yards of concrete over a nine-month period.
