The Northwater Treatment Plant, located in Golden, Colorado is designed to treat 75 million gallons per day (MGD) of water, with future expansion capabilities to 150 MGD. The new plant supplements Denver Water’s nearby aging Moffat Water Treatment Plant. PCL Construction’s extensive experience constructing water treatment plants and ability to self-perform various scopes of work proved critical to the job’s success. PCL played a key role in constructing concrete water-retaining structures including the flocculation and sedimentation basins, the gravity thickener, pump stations, and the equalization basins.

Construction of the Northwater Treatment Plant was more complex than typical water treatment facility projects, involving over 300 workers and multiple design engineers. PCL also employed advanced technology, including drones, 3D models, lidar scans, and Smartsheet software to enhance coordination and efficiency on the job.

The Northwater Treatment Plant will play a vital role in Denver Water's ability to serve the community, ensuring a reliable water supply for decades to come.
