The Post is one of the most ambitious heritage redevelopments in Canada’s history. This mid-century landmark, once the main Vancouver sorting facility for Canada Post, is being modernized into what the client envisions as the future of business. The addition of smart building technology will enable tenant employees to communicate digitally with the building.
Our experience in managing and delivering complex projects on time was a key benefit for the client. We share the same solution-provider approach as QuadReal, which has allowed us to work collaboratively and explore ways to maintain or accelerate the construction schedule. QuadReal’s goal is to provide their anchor office tenant—Amazon—with on-time delivery of their office space as they continue their expansion in the Vancouver market.
Retaining the existing structure will save approximately 25,000 tons of carbon. Installation of structural foundations in the existing structure support the addition of a 21-story and a 22-story tower to the existing podium. Once complete, the towers will make up the largest office space footprint in Vancouver. Each tower will feature landscaped roofs. The space between the towers will provide outdoor amenities such as sports courts accessible by a spiral ramp.
To provide common spaces for the community, the design incorporates an airy, natural light-filled atrium, an outdoor plaza and green spaces that will invite residents and visitors to gather at The Post. The retail concourse will feature a Loblaws City Market flagship grocery store, a food hall, fine dining, farm-to-table inspired cuisine, as well as other lifestyle amenities. Everything you need for a great day at work or a visit to the neighborhood.
