The VELO Sports Center was a first for our construction team in Los Angeles. As a velodrome cycling arena, the center was designed with a cycle-racing track and steeply banked curves.
The 100,000-square-foot center is located on the California State Dominguez Hill campus and replaces Los Angeles’ original velodrome, which was used during the 1984 Olympic Games. It is one of only 26 velodromes located in North America. It is also the largest indoor velodrome in the country.
Along with the main track, the building includes an entrance lobby, two restroom areas and permanent seating for 2,500 visitors with available space for additional temporary bleachers during events.
