Dave Filipchuk serves as board chair of PCL Construction Holdings Ltd., after leading PCL as president and chief executive officer from 2016-2024.
Dave joined PCL Edmonton in 1984 as a field engineer and, following several project assignments in both Canada and the United States, settled in Calgary as a construction manager in 1997. He was appointed Calgary district manager in 2004 and returned to Edmonton as regional vice president, Western Canadian Buildings, in 2008. In 2013 Dave took on the role of president and COO, Canadian and Australian Operations, then advanced to deputy chief executive officer in 2015, all prior to his appointment as president and chief executive officer in 2016.
During his tenure as CEO, Dave expanded the market presence of Canada’s largest general construction company and substantially grew its operations in the United States and Australia, achieving annual construction revenue exceeding $11 billion. Under his leadership, PCL consistently ranked among Canada’s Top 100 Employers, Fortune’s Great Places to Work, and Canada’s Best Managed Companies, reaching #10 in ENR’s global rankings.
Following in the footsteps of Bob Stollery, Dave has propelled PCL’s philanthropic endeavors. PCL is now the primary business contributor to the Alberta Capital Region United Way. Dave’s dedication to supporting those in need exemplifies the kind of leadership that leaves a legacy not only in the Edmonton construction community but also in the wider community he passionately serves. In 2022, Dave and PCL were recognized with a National Community Champion Award from United Way Canada.
Dave believes in leading by example and working collaboratively. Whether through mentorship or partnerships, Dave is focused on sharing knowledge and experiences with others for the benefit of the greater community.
