HONOLULU, Hawaii (Nov. 20, 2023) – Nordic PCL Construction, Inc. donates $7,500 to local food banks, enough to distribute over 10,000 holiday meals to those in need. This contribution is especially crucial given the rates of food insecurity in Maui alone, where one in six individuals struggle to access nutritionally adequate food – further compounded by the devastating wildfires.
With over 50 Maui employees and a history of constructing projects on the island, Nordic PCL has donated to Maui Food Bank for three years and Hawaii Food Bank for 11 years and continues to find ways to support the local community.
“Giving back to the local community has always been a priority for Nordic PCL but given the devastations that took place following the wildfires, it was especially crucial to come together this year,” said Mike Betz, Nordic PCL’s vice president and district manager.
Immediately following the fires, Nordic PCL donated $50,000 to Aloha United Way and coordinated with Hawaiian Cement to pack and ship containers of nonperishable goods to Maui County. Stepping up to donate during disasters is a priority for PCL which is why the company increased its corporate giving to the American Red Cross disaster relief to $100,000 this past year.
“Helping my community in their time of need is automatic. Without hesitation, Nordic PCL stepped in with our trade partners to provide emergency services for our community and clientele. It is an honor and a duty to have resources available at a moment’s notice to make a difference for one another. My community knows that they can come to us with their needs, and we will always be there to help,” said Grant Anae, superintendent for Nordic PCL.
