Denver Colorado (June 2, 2022) – PCL Construction is one of the top-ranking general contractors in the U.S. by construction billings, according to Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) annual Top 400 list. With reported billings in 2021 of more than $6 billion USD ($7 billion CAN) – a 6 percent increase year-over-year – PCL rose two spots to reach No. 12 on the list.
The report highlights the resiliency of the construction industry as despite the aftermath of a global pandemic as well as uncertainty brought on by supply chain disruptions, 2021 marked the 11th straight year of rising contracting revenue. Overall, total revenue for firms on the list rose to $421 billion USD.
The report also ranks contractors by revenue by sector. PCL was ranked No. 12 for Power and No. 13 in Petroleum.
According to Deron Brown, president and chief operating officer for PCL, the lingering impacts of COVID-19 create both opportunity and challenges for the industry.
“Pent-up demand from projects paused or rescheduled during the height of the pandemic means we have a strong backlog of work, which offers great opportunity for PCL,” Brown says. “However, inflation and supply chain disruptions continue to create challenges, including budget and schedule delays, which is why maintaining strong relationships and open communication with our clients is more critical than ever.”
