Los Angeles, CA (March 5, 2020) – Aaron Yohnke, PCL Construction’s vice president and district manager of the Los Angeles office, is named to Engineering News-Record (ENR)’s 2020 Top 20 Under 40 Young Professionals list. 

Born into a family of builders, Aaron was predestined for a career in construction at his family-owned construction business. Despite his success within the family business, he wanted to experience a larger construction company and joined PCL in 2005 as a field engineer in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. During Aaron’s time at PCL, his reputation landed him in influential leadership roles across multiple PCL offices, including project manager, special project manager, operations manager and district manager. In 2019, after only 14 years at PCL, he was promoted to vice president and district manager of PCL’s LA office, the fastest growing office in the organization, and oversees its continued growth. 

“Aaron is a huge asset to our California group and brings with him resourceful and strategic ideas,” said Cathy Orquiola who oversees PCL’s California Buildings group. “He continues to challenge the status quo with the goal of strengthening a culture of safety on all project sites.” 

Panels of industry judges in each of the 10 U.S. regions selected up to 20 individuals to represent that region. Next, a new panel of judges vetted the highest scoring candidates from each of the 10 regional contests to select a national Top 20 Under 40 list that represents the best-of-the-best of young leaders from across the country. These top 20 leaders were chosen from more than 500 entries. The awards program honors the finest of the next-generation construction industry professionals who have demonstrated extraordinary expertise, leadership and community service in their careers.
