The Fairbanks Warehouse and Logistics Facility project converted a former shopping center into a logistics hub facilitating deliveries in the remote Alaskan community. As part of a larger initiative, this project was one of four similar facilities constructed across three states for the same client, all within a tight timeframe. Each facility's construction began within a month of the others and was completed in December 2024.

Working in a remote location like Fairbanks posed unique challenges, particularly in securing materials and skilled labor. To overcome these obstacles, the PCL team collaborated closely with the local community and trade partners. They adapted to local practices, working six to seven days a week with extended hours during the summer months. This proactive approach allowed them to make significant progress before the harsh Alaskan winter set in, keeping the project on track to meet its tight deadlines.

The initial procurement of the switchgear was also a challenge due to long lead times, but strong supplier relationships helped reduce delivery time from one year to just six months. Proactive planning ensured all utility work was completed ahead of schedule, mitigating potential delays.

For remote communities like Fairbanks, which often experience shipment delays, this logistics hub eliminates reliance on external delivery services. By streamlining package delivery operations, the PCL team was able to address the unique needs of rural logistics.
