This project involved the construction of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Welland, Ontario, designed to support the production of INNIO's reciprocating gas engines and components for compression, mechanical drive, and power generation. The 468,000- square-foot plant also manufactures parts for transportation diesel engines, serving both INNIO’s Power division and other business lines. The plant includes specialized spaces for warehousing, machining, assembly, test cells, paint shops, shipping, and offices, ensuring a comprehensive and efficient operational environment. The project was carefully designed with lean process layout to streamline efficiencies while maintaining flexibility to adapt to future needs.

The facility was designed with innovation at its core, enabling INNIO to combine its legacy of industrial excellence with advanced data science and analytics capabilities. Dubbed the Brilliant Factory, the design promotes seamless operational workflows, optimizing efficiency across all stages of production. The space incorporates sustainable building practices and cutting-edge technologies, making it one of the most advanced manufacturing plants in Canada. The plant’s modular design allows for easy future expansion, ensuring it can meet the evolving demands of INNIO's diverse business units.

Originally developed as a greenfield project with GE Power, the facility became part of INNIO after the acquisition of GE's Distributed Power business in late 2018. The expansion of this state-of-the-art plant positions INNIO at the forefront of industrial innovation, bringing together top-tier manufacturing with modern analytical capabilities. As a key part of the company’s growth strategy, the Welland plant will continue to play a pivotal role in meeting INNIO’s manufacturing needs while maintaining its commitment to technological leadership in the energy sector.
