As part of a transformative, multi-phase campus redevelopment, Nordic PCL Construction has been selected to lead the Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation at Straub Benioff Medical Center in Honolulu. This critical project includes the construction of a new 10,600-square-foot emergency room—a significant increase from the current 6,800 square feet—designed to enhance patient flow, integrate advanced medical technologies, and provide flexible, family-centered care spaces. A new basement-level Observation Unit will support short-term patient evaluation and care, expanding the center’s capacity. The renovation is being carefully phased to minimize disruption to hospital operations and maintain a seamless patient experience throughout construction.

The 14-month project, which began in March 2025, is part of a broader $100 million redevelopment initiative supported by a historic philanthropic gift from Marc and Lynne Benioff. This expansion reflects Hawai‘i Pacific Health’s vision for a future-ready healthcare campus that meets the evolving needs of the community while honoring Straub’s century-long legacy of care.
