Takumi-Tei is an immersive dining experience operated by Mitsukoshi, USA, located in the Japan Pavilion of EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort. This high-end signature restaurant was created through the renovation and expansion of an existing retail space, transforming it into a multi-sensory culinary destination.

The project included the build-out of five uniquely designed dining rooms, a service bar, and a full-service kitchen, all carefully crafted to reflect Japanese craftsmanship and tradition. Enhancements to the exterior included new landscaping, a retaining wall and garden wall, a themed concrete walkway, and a stone entryway, seamlessly blending the restaurant into the existing pavilion.

PCL’s scope of work encompassed the full renovation of the existing space, construction of the new addition, and the installation of all new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The team also constructed the restaurant’s foundation and structural elements and integrated new utility connections with the existing infrastructure.

To ensure seamless execution in an active theme park environment, PCL self-performed the construction of temporary barricades around the perimeter of the project site and implemented meticulous protection measures for existing finishes throughout the duration of the project.

Takumi-Tei exemplifies PCL’s expertise in delivering highly immersive and themed environments while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency within a dynamic setting.
