The world is a complex place with geopolitical tension, financial-market volatility, and the increasing costs of food and energy. Add on top of that our slow recovery from the pandemic – you would think that the challenges today are no different than from the 1960s. Or are they?  At Nordic PCL Construction, the team reflects the highest representation of ethnic minority groups in the company. In fact, several team members have broken barriers which will likely have a profound impact as demographics continue to change. It is those who see no limits that can truly impact future generations. Our game-changers include:

Tytan Timoteo, Superintendent
First API Winner of "Corporate Les Albert Supervisory Leadership Award"

Tytan Timoteo joined Nordic PCL in 2015. The breadth of his experience ranges from large residential projects, (Ke Kilohana and Symphony), to small fast-paced commercial projects with DFS (Duty-Free Shops) at the Airport. As the first API, (Asian Pacific Islander), to win the Corporate Les Albert Supervisory Leadership Award, it is evident Tytan views challenges as opportunities and not obstacles.

Glen Kaneshige, President
First API in a Key Executive Leadership Role at PCL Family of Companies

Glen Kaneshige brokered the deal with PCL Construction to form Nordic PCL Construction in 2008. As the first API to sit in an executive leadership role, Glen continues to break records in his local community. His legacy is not in how high he has climbed, but how wide he has reached.

Pamela Nitta, Construction Risk Manager
First API Woman to lead Special Projects Department

In her tenure as Special Projects Manager, Pamela Nitta, was the third woman to serve in this role and the first Asian Pacific Islander throughout the 118-year history of PCL Construction. As Construction Risk Manager, Pam continues to lead by example by supporting the Habitat for Humanity Board. Pam also jump-started the Wahine Build campaign as the first honoree to be recognized by the organization in 2021.

Barbara Yee, HSE Supervisor
One of the first API Woman to Adopt Safety on Construction Sites in Hawaii

Barbara Yee help spearhead construction safety as one of the few women in the field at the time. As the safety program has grown to be an integrated part of our business, Barbara has remained at the forefront, earning a national award from the Army Corps of Engineers.

As we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May, the nod to Sam Cooke in Barack Obama's 2008 victory speech resonates today. “It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come."
